This is my new watercolor and colored pencil painting inspired by Paul Green's cabin in the North Carolina Botanical Garden in Chapel Hill.
Paul Green was a well known playwright, who did most of his writing in a little cabin. The cabin was moved to the Mountain Habitat Garden in 1991, nestled in a display of Southern Shield Ferns.
I like the combination of watercolor and colored pencil because it provides both depth and luminosity.
Early in 2013, we adopted Stanley from Triangle Sheltie Rescue. He is a wonderful boy, and has stolen our hearts and those of everyone that he meets in our community.
Stanley is a great model, and I have painted him several times. In this watercolor and colored piece, called Shetland Reverie, I picture him recalling the ancestral home in the Shetland Islands of this wonderful breed.
