| Read Time,
a poem by Murry Handler |
I have been
writing, painting and designing Bonsai for the past 40 years. A
native of Bangor Maine, I studied in New York City at The Franklin
Institute of Art, figure drawing with Joseph Kelly at Pratt
Institute and painting under the late Joseph Hirsh.
I self published a book of poetry in the late
sixties titled Potpouri, recently finished a memoir Almost
A Jew and have cast this manuscript on the water for a literary
agent.
I had a highly successful career at the forefront
of pharmaceutical advertising and design for Pfizer, American
Cyanamid, Hoffman La Roche, and many others while CEO of a
sixteen person design group.
In the years between, while
teaching at New York City's The Parson's School of Design and
Fashion Institute of Technology, I produced the short stories: People
Are Annual... The Land Is Perennial, a fictional tale of my
numerous canoe journies into the Alagash wilderness, and Happy
Birthday, a spin off from Almost A
Jew.
My work has been shown in galleries in New York,
Connecticut, Florida and North Carolina and hang in many private
collections around the country. I have received numerous awards in
both fine art and graphic art. I am a member of the Society of
Illustrators and former member of the American Institute of Design.
